On October 28, Spend an adventurous day in the forest near Packwood Washington as instructor Kendra Henderson leads foragers through ethical harvesting as well as gathering and identifying wild mushrooms. We will also cover gear, seasons and safety for your future mushroom hunting trips.

Participants will learn about habitat, anatomy and life cycle as well as edible, medicinal uses. Our group will spend several hours in the woods looking for and collecting mushrooms. We will then come together and share our findings at the end of the forage. 

We will complete our wilderness adventure with a tailgate potluck! The hope is to cook up some delicious finds in a buttered cast iron skillet.

We will be wandering in areas off-trail. You may have to climb over or go under downed trees.  Wear closed-toe shoes, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.  As a safety precaution, we ask that everyone download the app Strava to their phone prior to the meeting in person.  It runs on satellites, so even if your cell phone doesn't have service it still tracks your location and can send it to people who have your location beacon.
